Sunday Scribblings " Powerful"

In this post I’ve tried to pepper a touch of humor with just one perspective of power as I see it! However feeling powerful is a huge subject that carries many perceptions. This is just a pebble in the scheme of it all! I have felt powerful when I had money, only because it bought me freedom to choose any path and to be as generous, as I love to be!

I’ve felt powerful when I’m creating, when I have peace of mind, and when I was defending the rights of a child. Although I know I can be a powerful woman if need be, only if I feel threatened is it ever an issue. However, being powerless is devastating!
Dancing with Power
Power and money
saunter together
holding hands
Lovers huddle
contemplating
destiny
and preservation
Compelled to
Maintain rank
Bound to reproduce
in a cage of secrecy
rigidly captive
to their
eternal pledge
Dissuading adversaries
And termination

Illustration friday the blues

Illustration Friday

The Blues

Joisted thoughts merge

Caustic words are spewed

Needless angst ensues

A scourge burdens harmony

Chained to the emotional carnage,

toxic repression is concealed.

Hapless expedition into aggravation

The discontented opportunity rogue

with hawk prey intent

tawdry insolence

is a blatant Spirit assassin.

A Catalyst to distress

And the blues

Middle Name Meme

Let your heart soar as high as it will.
Refuse to be average.
--A.W. Tozer

My daughter is in no way average! Starting with her name Pepper, yes it is her given name. I figured if it was good enough for Dr. Pepper Schwartz then it was good enough for my child!
I hope to read Dr. Schwartz's latest book called
" Prime" check it out!
Pepper at Pearson airport, gazing out the window at the beautiful sunset, just about to soar home from Toronto Monday night when she saw a barrage of emergency vehicles racing towards a plane on the tarmac! After inquiring about the Kafuffle she was told the plane had a boo boo! Her estimation is that planes DO NOT HAVE BOO BOO'S!
Previous to that she was caught in an elevator that wasn't moving, claustrophobia set in! She was almost speaking in tongues when the door finally opened giving her relief! The passengers on the elevator seemed notably relieved too!
Settling in for the flight home she endured three hours of turbulence similar to a carnival ride during the five hour flight. Pepper was slightly apprehensive when the plane was delayed so they could change the tires. Oh and the boo boo was on another plane where one of the engines broke down! All this after working twelve hour days! My girl is a trouper going it alone to Toronto not knowing a soul there! She managed one quick power shop during the five days, even then she only found a few things for Bryan.

My middle name is Leesa. The prolific poet Deb from Janepoe tagged me with a meme about middle names!

The object of the middle name game is to list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use the name you would have liked to have had!)

When you are tagged you need to write your own blog post containing your middle name game facts. At the end of your blog post choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag.
Loquacious embarrassed to say I can be known to be long winded at times. I probably talk too much. I’m sure there are occasions where people wished I had an off switch. I am working on it. On the flip side I can be a wonderful listener, retaining what is shared!

Eccentric I tend not to walk the beaten path; I am attracted to unusual men, unusual gadgets, unusual theories, and unusual names. Kind of like a crow is to shiny bits, I am to eccentricities! I despise the mundane!

Enlightened, I’m a progressive, liberal, free thinking, open minded tolerant person! A direct result of my spiritual quest and fairly accurate intuition!

S
age I'm told I'm sage, yet rarely feel that way! Friends constantly remind me that I should have been a counselor! People regularly seek me out for advice or direction when feeling emotionally lost.I help where I can.

Adaptable fitting in with many types of personalities and life situations! I’m fairly flexible when it comes to adapting!

Cake and a full moon

We celebrated our nature goddess Connie, with an artistic cake made by Laura. This delectable Angel food was served with semi frozen blackberries picked this year! Isn't it stunning! I heard gasps when she unveiled this masterpiece!
Four of the six of us, now own vintage cake holders to tote our cakes around. It may seem lame to some, be it excites us! Especially when they are so hard to find!
Janice is our youngest goddess at fifteen years my junior!! Oh to be young again!!!! Not really!
I didn’t capture as many useable pictures as I might have liked to! Some of the goddesses were acting more like impish sprites, than divine beings! So I settled to post the least embarrassing picture which just happens to have me in it! Janice sat like a polite little goddess, and didn’t make faces at the camera lady….ME,...... like some .....who will remain nameless did!

The necklace and bracelet I made for Connies Birthday. She mentioned a while back that she's been wearing more pink lately!

We had a lovely catch up chat, food was delicious, but the mood was a bit off. We missed our fairy goddess! She was in our hearts and on our minds struggling with some health issues.

Last nights full moon! Isn't it spectacular!

The night ended a tad earlier than normal, the full moon led the way home, where I continued my night peering in on the bloglandia ball gowns. So many creative women with blogs. We are women hear us roar, in numbers too big to ignore. A deviation from a very vintage Helen Reddy song, which may be more relevant now than ever before!

Finally a venue where more woman can have a voice!

Writers Island " The Key"

Writers Island Prompt for this week is " The Key"
The Key to Ambiguity and Dignity
Key to a house of ambiguity
Kitchenaid and Jenn-air
Fridge with ice cubes
Perfect hair
Appearance, the aspiration
Mass energy disbursed
In exasperation
A whim, a want,
Spent with ease
Attentive,
Relent to please
Mental illness prowls
Souls molding, amid dark and dank
Ambling the loneliness
Emotionally blank
Every moment spent
On perfection
A dose of humor
Staved off dejection
Sleep was sparse
Intense exertion
Eventually crashing
To inertia
Key to a house of dignity
Fridge and stove need repair
The teetering dryer
A gifted spare
Over due bills
An aggravation
Generosity absconded
With fiscal elimination
Yet happiness frolics
Amongst the mire
Passion resides
With creative desire
Music, art,
Love and chatter
Masking annoyances
That rarely matter
Delight and peace
In copious measure
Clinging to walls
Contentment treasure
Souls rejuvenated
Life relegated
To a state of pleasure
Impregnated

Granville Island Ferries Garbage Can Art Contest 2007

I want the entire team of artist that participated in this charity event to know I think you all did a fabulous job! I admire your tenacity and creativity during this event! It was certainly never my intention to offend anyone with my silly curious remarks!

Yesterday I went down to Granville Island to support my talented Artists friends Joanna and Nicci who were painting Garbage Cans for an annual Charity event! The cans were judged for prizes then auctioned off, the money goes to childrens hospital for art supplies! Art therapy is often more important than many realize!

When Pepper was five I almost lived in Palative care with my mom! Thankfully Pepper was able to do art therapy to cope with the passing of her nana! She insisted on being at the hospital with me until the last two weeks, where she asked to stay home!I still have the clay pieces she made!

Most of my friends will recognize Nicci's Girlz as she calls them! I would love to own this can, these bright colors speak to me!

You can visit Nicci at her Brushed with Magic website, where she also has a blog!

Nicci has been a busy little artist as of late, with commission work she's picked up after being on the show "Thats Clever!"

Nicci putting on the finishing touches of her can!

I surprised Joanna! Her art and soul Labyrinth was even more spectacular in person! Joanna was also on the American television show " That's Clever"!
Joanna is facilitating local art projects and also runs healing workshops. You can visit her website at " Art and Soul Concepts"
Joanna teaches healing with Labyrinths!

Laura Gibson, an accomplished artist also won with her Garbage Can! As you can see her unique style caught the attention of the judges! You can find more of Lauras fun art at her website here!
The back of Laura's Can

This one is called the "Bush of Life" and it's done by the kids with eating disorders in Childrens Hospital! These are the kids who will benefit from this Charity!
If I'm correct this Artist was trying to say each person can make a difference. Although it's a wonderful concept, there's a bit of an oxymoron going on here! It's going to be a dirty world if we can't use the can! I'm wondering what the heck they're going to do with a squished trash can! Any ideas? I hate waste.... !!!
This Rocket was the grand Prize winner! I think it speaks for itself. Since we can't actually use it down here on earth because the garbage would dump right out of it, I guess we need to fly our Garbage to the moon Alice!!! On a closer look it's Sam Sullivan the Vancouver mayor they want to send to the moon!!!
Carousel, very complex for a four hour project!

Okay here is a bride and groom. Does he think weddings are just garbage? I have to agree it's a huge expense for a one day ceremony that has only a fifty percent survival rate!

An update Oct 3/2007 this can " Wedding" was intended to pay homage to hope and romance, and used at a wedding shower to house the wrapping paper.Very inventive idea! I think my marriage bias may have trickled into my statement, for this I deeply apologize. As a romantic at heart, I can appreciate the love and optimism that went into this piece!

Now this is a GREAT political statement! Very well done! Vancouver has had an on going garbage strike since the begining of summer! Of course the Rats are thrilled, contented, full and ready to get it on! Not exactly good publicity for the city of Ratcouver! Albeit quite hilarious! Let's spend millions getting ready for 2010, hell who cares about a rat or fifty! Pretty darn cute rats dancin around!

Look at this very proud contestant, she had a ball flicking paint onto the peace signs. A great statement, in an ever turbulant world!
Okay this can would match my Magenta living room. Would I have it there!!!Hmmm I don't think so! However it is beautifully done in foam, and a prize winner! Again too pretty for waste!
This simple black on blue is kind of cool, and could be useful! It would look nice with the right shoes, I mean, house!
This is my kind of color goin on! Can you imagine a world of garbage cans like this? I CAN!!!
Again a very useful can! I think there should be an on going project around town to Paint the cans! Great advertizement for Artists, while Glamming up the city!

Granville Island Ferries art contest 2007

I think there is a message in this one!!! A dead body maybe? Does anyone speak Spanish? I hope that's spanish? Pretty funky can! Maybe it says put your bones in here!!! Heck I don't know!

Sunday Scribblings " Hi my name is"

Sunday Scribbling prompt for this week is " Hi my name is"
Hi My name is Sherrie, I write this blog. Although I am an older gal, in the past twenty four hours I have learned so many things.

I learned that a grumpy young neighbor becomes a grumpier old neighbor eleven years later, and his once beautiful wife looks haggard because of it! So grateful I moved all those years ago!

I’ve learned that it is awesome to reconnect with old friends that you’ve lost touch with!

I have learned that I have a good support system for my art!

I have learned that my daughter the princess, who loves me to dote on her, is an extremely independent brave lone traveler with amazing business savvy!

I have learned that I have an opportunity to stay in Mexico for four months in a lovely home, as a house sitter with a friend, should I choose to!

I have learned that Peppers father does worry about her when she’s not with me!

I have learned that although I love my solitude I also need to connect with like minded people, especially other artists who inspire me!
I learned that you can love a non famous person that you have never met as long as you read their blog!

I have learned that no matter how cloudy it is, there can be a sunset lurking the perimeter of the clouds. Literally and metaphorically!
I have learned that sometimes you have to go off the beaten path to find a good deal. My car led me to a five dollar mirror at a garage sale, still in its wrapper, completely ready for painting or mosaic!

I have learned that when you stop playing that’s when you truly start to age!
I learned that a doctor can become so frustrated with the system that he becomes an artist instead!

I’ve learned that it is awesome to reconnect with old friends that you’ve lost touch with!

I learned that a young people often find older people totally irrelevant!

I have learned that I love the new camera my daughter bought me in five minutes on the way to the airport! That if you put your true needs out into the universe they will be met!

I learned that young men hide a lot of pain behind their songs, and desperately need intimate connections, yet scorn each other for it!

I have learned I can waste countless hours trying to figure out how to change things on blogger, and still walk away void of a solution! Also a metaphor for life and relationships!
Last of all I have learned that life is changing so quickly at the moment, that I’m a little discombobulated!

Meeting at the Enchanted Magic Cottage

Gemma's Birthday isn't for a few days. But in honor of our first meeting we decided to celebrate her anyway! So I whipped up this cake. The outside is rather messy, but hey you can't see it from this angle!
Yesterday a few of us glitter power sisters gathered at Violettes enchanting Magic cottage! I arrived last; Nicci from (brushed with magic) greeted me at the door! It's a home full of happy energy! I even talk faster when I'm there!
Gemma who I’d never met and her sister Susie were touring the spectacular Artist Violettes boudoir! Isn’t it just a fireworks of color for the soul? A very sweet artists Haven!
We proceeded into the back yard for a photo Op! As girls will be girls, the hoola hoop came out! Violette gave us a demo, Gemma joined in the fun! Just because you’re half a century old doesn’t mean you can’t play!!!
The jubilation of meeting for the first time, made us all giddy with joy! The bliss continues!
Serious semblance of peace as we hug together to record our special moments of love on Violettes Peace Swing!

The festivities continued with artichoke dip, humus, orange tea, fruit, cake, wine and intimate conversation! We reveled in the pureness of our souls. Enjoying every precious second of a very special moment in time! Just a thrill to meet authentic people and share life stories about family, art and spirit! What could be more perfect!!!
We all instantly clicked as though we'd known each other forever! I guess that's the true gift of blogging. You put so much of your soul into it, readers can't help but really get to know your heart! I had an amazing day meeting two special ladies while joining with my friends Violette and Nicci! Thank you Gemma and Susie for sharing yourselves so lovingly with a candid authenticity!! It was a true Joy! Violette for inviting us to the magic cottage to enjoy such creative splendor! Nicci for showing your studio to our visitors on a moments notice! I sent Gemma off with this bit of jewelry I made especially for her, and a frozen Banana Bread to share with her sister! I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to meet such nice people fromthe blogging world! Have a safe trip home Gemma!
